
MINUTES from APRIL 27, 2008
The RGVAHC met Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 4 pm in the Walgreen Corp quarters in Weslaco. The meeting was called to order by President, Yvonne Knowland. Those attending were:Yvonne Knowland, PresidentMary Barkkari, TreasurerMarlene Foale, SecretaryAlayne Villarreal, Youth Coordinator and daughter, Carolineand other members:David GiraultLaura Dominguez and Mr & Mrs DominguezErin YossTreasurers report of horse show indicated a gross income of $775.00 and a total of $841.00 in expenses leaving a negative of $56.00.It was discussed that a better contact with valley barns needs to be made and that mailouts should be sent to all previous entries. Alayne offered to go to Wells Stables and Farasi Farms in Los Fresnos as well as feed stores in Brownsville. It was voted to not advertize in Valley papers as there was no evidence of any participation from that advertizing. Our next insurance premium will be $30 less than the last one.Yvonne announced that it appears we cannot continue to work with the Weslaco ISD due to demands that we cannot meet. The next show will be held at the Rodriguez Arena south of San Benito. (Exit FM 732 - turn left at first crossroad (Pennsylvania Av) to first drive on left). A new show date has been chosen that does not conflict with PVDS show and clinic scheduled for June 7th. Our new show date is Saturday, May 24th and we will call this show THE MEMORIAL DAY SHOW. Sharon Rodriguez is sending out a team penners newsletter with infomation about our show. A discussion of the show bill came up and several changes were discussed which will be reflected in the new show bill. Additional funds and/or items are needed. It was suggested that those donating $50 or more could receive a thank you ad on our web site. A letter for sponsorships will be drafted for us to use.Alayne annouced that a youth meeting will be held on May 17th with location to be announced. Show dates for the rest of the year are October 4th and November 8th.The meeting was adjourned with the next meeting being May 25th at the Walgreen Corp. quarters at 4 pm.Respectfully submitted,Marlene Foale, Secretary
