MINUTES from SEPTEMBER 7, 2008
The RGVAHC held a meeting at the home of Suzanne Herzing's Bed & Breakfast! (It's beautiful!) Prior to the meeting we had a tour of the B & B, then a pot luck meal, followed by a presentation by Mark Leiser on the care of a horse's hoof, including cleaning, trimming, what to look for, and the importance of nutrition. Those in attendance were: Yvonne Knowland, Pres., Alayne and Caroline Villarreal, Youth Coordinator, Mary Barkkari, Treas., Marlene Foale, Secretary, David Girault, Suzanne Herzing and her daughter, Kalie, and Mark Leiser.
Yvonne called the meeting to order, and David Girault asked to be called and reminded the night before the show to bring his walkie-talkies.
Mary B. will be working upstairs doing entries, with Rick K., who will keep track of points, and Marlene, who is the announcer.Alayne reported on the Youth Clinic held at her barn which included a talk on Safety around horses, presented by Peggy Hyde. Mary B. will email flyers for everyone to print out along with entries, to be be posted in barns, feed stores, TSC, etc, and distributed. Alayne and Marlene will be going to Brownsvile, Olmito, Los Fresnos, and Bayview, promoting the show.
Marlene will be contacting Sharon Rodriguez concerning the winter Texans that will be preparing and serving the food and drinks at the horse show.
The yard sale previously scheduled for Oct. 18th will be postponed until after the first of the year.
Suzanne suggested we should register our Club with Country Supply, as they will give us a percentage back to the club, for whatever any of us order. This will go towards more prizes for the show! We will send notice of the code to enter when we get registered with them.Members are encouraged to recruit volunteers to help at the show.
It was moved and seconded and approved and we then adjourned.
Respectfully submitted by:Marlene Foale, Secretarymf/mb
